Setting up POP3 email for Outlook 2007
Step 1. Open OutlookOpen
Outlook which is located under
All Programs in the Microsoft Office folder
Step 2. Account Settings
After you open Outlook 2007 go to the top bar and find Tools
Under Tools select Account Settings
Step 3. Email Accounts
The Account Settings box looks like the image below
Using the Email tab click the New button
Step 4. Choosing Email Service
The next pop-up box should look like the image below
Select the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP button and click Next
Step 5. Auto Account Setup
In the Auto Account Setup window check the Manually Configure Server Settings option
Then click Next
Step 6. Internet Email
On the next screen select the Internet Email option and click Next
Step 7. User Information
This next step has several parts
First you must enter your name as you want it to appear when sending email
Then enter your full email address in the Email Address field
After your User information is entered select POP3 as your Account Type
Enter pop.accountsupport.com in the Incoming mail server field
Enter smtp.accountsupport.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field
Then enter your username (email address) and password and click the More Settings button
Step 8. More Settings
Click on the Outgoing Server tab
Then check My outgoing server (SMTP) Requires Authentication box
Make sure Use same setting as my incoming mail server is also checked
When finished click OK
Step 9. Internet Email Settings
After you have set up the new email account click the Tools menu, and select Account Settings
Highlight the email account you just set up and click Change
Then click More Settings and change port 25 to port 587
Then click OK
Step 10. Finish Setup
You should still have the Internet Email Settings box up
You can test to make sure everything is right by using the Test Account Settings button
If everything is entered correctly click Next and then Finish
Setting up POP3 email for Outlook 2003
(These Steps are much like those for Outlook 2007 with some small variations)
Step 1. Open OutlookOpen
Outlook which is located under
All Programs in the Microsoft Office folder
Step 2. Email AccountsOnce Outlook 2003 is open click the
Tools menu and select
Email AccountsStep 3. Add New Email AccountIn the pop-up that appears click
Add a new email account and then click
NextStep 4. Server TypeThe next window will ask you to choose your type of server.
Make sure you select
POP3 and then click
NextStep 5. POP3 SettingsFirst enter your name as you want it to appear
Then enter your full email address in the email address field
Next make sure your login information is entered
To finish up enter
pop.accountsupport.com into the incoming server
And
smtp.accountsupport.com into the outgoing mail server
When finished click
More SettingsStep 6. More SettingsClick on the
Outgoing Server tab
Then check
My outgoing server (SMTP) Requires Authentication Make sure
Use same setting as my incoming mail server is also checked
Then click the
Advanced tab and change the SMTP port to the alternate port of 26
When finished click
OKStep 7. Test Account SettingsThe previous box with all of the fields should still be up
Click the
Test Account Settings button and you should see all items with green check marks
When the test is finished click
Close to close the test window
Click
Next to save your settings then click
Finish
Setting up POP3 email for Outlook Express
Step 1. Open Outlook ExpressOpen
Outlook Express which is located under
All ProgramsStep 2. Email AccountsOnce Outlook Express is open click the
Tools menu and select
AccountsYou should get a pop-up box labeled
Internet AccountsClick
Add and then scroll over to
MailStep 3. Your NameA pop-up box labeled
Your Name will appear
Enter your name in the
Display name: field and click
NextYour display name is how your name will appear when sending email
Step 4. Internet Email AddressIn this next box enter your full email address in the
Email address: field and click
NextStep 5. Email Server NamesThis next step has multiple parts
First choose
POP3 from the drop down box labeled
My incoming mail serverThen enter
pop.accountsupport.com in the
Incoming mail server field
Also enter
smtp.accountsupport.com in the
Outgoing mail server field
Click
Next when you’re done
Step 6. LogonEnter your username in the
Account name field. Enter your email password in the
Password: field
Then when your login information is entered check
Remember password and click
NextStep 7. Import ScreenUnless you have previously installed email software click
Do not import at this time and click
NextStep 8. Import Not CompleteIf you chose not to import you should get a pop-up saying you chose not to
Click
FinishStep 9. PropertiesNow you must go back to Outlook
In Outlook click the
Tools menu and select
AccountsHighlight the account you created and click the
Properties button
Step 10. ServersThe
Properties pop-up should have several tabs across the top
Click the
Servers tab, and check the box next to
My server requires authentication Then click on the
Settings button
Step 11. Verify the Login InformationSelect the
use same settings as my incoming mail server option and then click
OKTo finish click
OK in the properties menu
